In 1998, Sherjil founded Avaz Networks, which developed key ASIC solutions for cable and telecom networks, winning large customers such as NEC, Scientific Atlanta and Nortel Networks from an early stage. Sherjil brought in these customers, led the development of seven first-time-right SoC solutions, many of which were supplied to these large customers for deployment in multi-million quantities. Sherjil developed these early customer wins into repeat engagements rapidly turning Avaz into a multi-million dollar business.

After nearly 20 years of the industrial experience with large and established firms, John founded VisionFlow, Inc. in 2003 to develop leading low-power media SoC solutions for smart mobile entertainment & communications markets – from Mobile TV/streaming media, to wireless surveillance & mobile video phone.
